SCREENING
Many eye diseases carry no symptoms, and is usually diagnosed at later stages. At Optika Optometrist, we strongly believe that early detection is always better than treatment, hence it has been our standard operationing procedure to screen for any eye diseases or abnormalities.
To perform the eye health screening procedure, Optika Optometrist has brought in DRS Retinal Imaging System from Italy and Keeler Pulsair IntelliPuff Tonometer from the United Kingdom.
The DRS Retinal Imaging System is a special camera that captures high resolution photograph of the eye’s back part (also known as retina). This state-of-the-art technology assists in the detection and monitor of eye diseases such as diabetic retinopathy, hypertensive retinopathy, macular degeneration and signs of glaucoma.
While the Keeler Pulsair IntelliPuff Tonometer performs eye pressure test to detect signs of glaucoma, without causing much irritation or pain.
We strongly recommend clients who are above 40 years old to undergo eye health screening at least once a year, as they are more prone to eye diseases. With early detection of any diseases or abnormalities, early management and treatment could be taken if any problems occur, hence avoiding risk for permanent vision loss.
